What is it about?

Gear tooth surfaces are obtained by applying of a meshing process. Despite of the mathematical model is deterministic, it is not so easy to handle. In order to improve the CAD modelling efficiency, defined by shorting the processing time and decreasing the necessary amount of memory, the Mixed generating model was developped. This consists on the producing of a point cloud where the elements are generated by the cutting edges in their relative motion to the workpiece. The paper compares the precision of the methods enumerated in the title of the paper

Why is it important?

The result is important because it allows the simulation of the real meshing process, including also the errors of the technological system: cutting edge errors, position errors of the machine tool and motion errors.

Perspectives

By applying the developped method of the point cloud, the development of some new types of gears can be done faster.
