What is it about?
This paper addresses the question how language and gestures are stored in the mind. As I argue, though different in degree of conventionality, both the verbal as well as the gestural system are driven by an 'effort-after-constructions' – the human cognitive process of pairing verbal and/or gestural form with a meaning. Crucial in this process is the role of the working memory.
