What is it about?

Adaptations of Shakespeare's plays into other media have received a lot of attention over the years. However, the sonnets, too, have been adapted, as film, theatre, books, comics, etc. My paper deals with adaptations of Shakespeare's sonnets into other media.

Why is it important?

My paper suggests that such adaptations add to our understanding, not only of the sonnets themselves, but also of Shakespeare, his life and method of composition.

Perspectives

The stronger the case that is made to support the idea that Shakespeare himself had a hand in the publication of the 1609 Quarto, the stronger our understanding of the poet and of the circumstances that led to the composition of the sonnets.
