What is it about?
This article presents a new theory of public library development, one that explains and predicts the genesis, evolution, and dissolution of public library systems. The theory adopts a political and communicative framework to explain why libraries develop as they do.

Why is it important?
The theory is explanatory, predictive, testable, falsifiable, it uses new methods and a new research design, and it operates at a suitable level of abstraction to apply to libraries generally.
Perspectives
I am proud and excited about this article because it presents one of the key findings from my dissertation research. I believe this article contributes multiple new ideas to the field, including its results, methodology, research design, and future possible research avenues.
