What is it about?

This article is about a library programme which targeted the reading skills of six- to nine-year-old children, aimed to encourage them to read for pleasure, to build their reading confidence and to improve their literacy skills.

The evaluation found the programme was valuable and highlighted the importance of developing strong partnerships between libraries and schools.

Perspectives

We all know reading is an important skill and this programme (Hairytales) demonstrated great potential for children when supported by a school - library partnership.
