What is it about?
This article presents several different ways in which people in the developing world could see the subject of law and development, explaining that it is not one fixed concept, but several related and evolving processes.

Why is it important?
Understanding or at least realising that there are many points at which law intersects with development is useful for thinking through the process of developing the law to cater to previously unregulated fields of activity in an enabling way or to reform existing law for greater effectiveness.
Perspectives
This work gives expression to personal reflections on the role of law in development, seeking to locate these thoughts within existing paradigms on the subject, or at least connect them to the experiences of others in developing societies. If life is a continuum, how can development be any less evolving?
