What is it about?

The paper critically discusses the image of science arising from some extreme formulations of naturalism, with a special attention to the role that normativity still plays within scientific theories.

Why is it important?

The paper is supposed to contribute to a more balanced view of science by a philosophical viewpoint: the relevance of a general naturalistic outlook is out of question, but the relation science-philosophy within such outlook is to be characterized in much more cooperative terms.

Perspectives

This paper summarizes my work on the topic of naturalism: with it I try to provide a more philosophy-friendly view of naturalism, that still represents the canonical framework in which a reasonable view of the empirical world should be inscribed.
