What is it about?
Seasonal differences in birth pattern in children and adolescents with autoimmune thyroiditis does exist. The highest and lowest predispositions to Hashimoto Thyroiditis were found among those born in spring (March) and autumn (November), respectively.

This study is important because it suggests that effects on fetal development can be critical for long-term programming of an autoimmune response against the thyroid gland. Previous publications do not provide consistent data.
