What is it about?
The formal formulation problem is brought about to the class of the fault tolerant systems with the threshold reliability structure of type “k-out-of-n” applying the English convention of the record. Namely, an n-component system that fails (will lose the ability to function) is called a k-out-of-k : F system only when at least k of the n components fail. On the other hand, an n-component system works (or is “good”) only when at least k of the n components work (or are good) is called a k-out-of-n : G threshold system. Let us notice, that based on given definitions the thresholds systems k-out-of-n:G and an (n-k+1) out-of-n: G are equivalent.

Why is it important?
In this paper we study the construction of the functional and numerical reliability characteristics for the fault tolerant systems with so called “k-out-of-n” threshold reliability structure based on order statistics.
Perspectives
Methods of calculation presented in this study do not exhaust further possibilities of their development for the purposes of reliability examinations of technical objects.
