What is it about?

It is an Active Crowbar Protection, an additional unit with the DFIG system which is used to enhance the Fault Ride through or Low Voltage Ride Through capability of the induction generator. Compared to the conventional crowbar ,an extra capacitor is used in the proposed circuit and the simulation results are compared.

Why is it important?

The mathematical derivation and the selection of the capacitor.

Perspectives

I hope this article will be very much helpful for a better understanding of how three phase fault affects the wind energy conversion system ,different typologies for FRT capability improvement of DFIG and How an improved crowbar fulfills the required purpose of the Wind System.
