What is it about?
Is constitutionalism a political or a legal phenomenon? The historical development of global constitutionalism demonstrates the dominance of the legal. However, the article argues that constitutionalism in general and global constitutionalism in particular is as much political as it is legal. Without fully considering the political dimension of global constitutionalism we will always fail to fully understand the direction into which it is moving.

Visions of the political can differ and often be subconscious, Scholars working on constitutionalism without fully comprehending their own underlying vision of the political will not be able to articulate their claims clearly.
