What is it about?

The aim of the paper was to determine the occurrence of feet and ankle deformities in trampoline and artistic gymnasts. Trampolinists exhibit significantly more pronounced calcaneal valgus than artistic gymnasts. The prevalence of foot and ankle deformities in both populations should be addressed by coaches in the gymnastics training of young children.

Why is it important?

We have shown that the sport training in young gymnasts might influence the foot and/or ankle deformity. Therefore the coaches should know the threat and they should apply the special exercises at the begining of the training to prevent the deformity of feet and ankles.

Perspectives

We hope the article can help to improve the sport trianing addressed to very young children in gymnastic disciplines of sport. We hope also that the parents of young children being aware of the threatment should choose the best proposition of physical activity for their children.
