What is it about?
Lignosulfonates are importan biobased chemicals. Making gels that are insoluble can turn them into good ion exchange materials or adsorbents. In this work several different reagents are tested. It is found that the reagent must be strong enough to react with phenolic groups in the lignin structure, but not so strong that it will destroy the structure.
