What is it about?
The natural earthquakes cause an additional loads on each engineering structure. The ground vibrations are measured in three perpendicular directions. In engineering practice, however, only the horizontal element is taken into account. Proposed method makes the simplified design more reliable, because it takes into account the strength reduction phenomenon during loading. The effect of the vertical acceleration component on resisting force, and therefore on the slope stability, is presented.

Why is it important?
The proposed method makes the simplified design more reliable because it takes into account the phenomenon of decreasing the resistance force during dynamic load.
Perspectives
Working with a very simple, and yet useful model was an interesting experience.
