What is it about?

The genesis of this journal arose from a critical analysis of the existing literature landscape, exposing a substantial gap in academic platforms addressing the vital nexus between gender studies and sustainable development. Our team, comprising individuals with extensive experience as gender experts in international organizations, identified the urgent need for a dedicated space where scholars from the global south can contribute, share, and amplify their voices. The COVID-19 pandemic further emphasized the necessity of such a platform. As reported by UN Women and UNDP, the pandemic has disproportionately impacted women, setting back years of progress in gender equality. Lockdowns, economic challenges, and increased incidence of gender-based violence have highlighted the interconnectedness of gender and sustainability in the face of global crises. In 2019, with the support of the Li Ka-shing Foundation, we envisioned a journal that not only publishes scholarly articles but also amplifies the voices of researchers from the global south.

Promote Dialogue and Collaboration: Foster intellectual interactions among scholars and practitioners from developing countries, contributing to the development of robust knowledge about gender and sustainability. 2. Expand Understanding about Developing Countries: Enhance comprehension of gender and sustainability issues specific to developing nations, ensuring their voices are integral to global discussions. 3.
