What is it about?

Foundations have become important players and are increasingly criticized as being elitist, self-interested, and vain-glorious. The papers look at the criticism put forward in a transnational perspective and offer some arguments and solutions.

Why is it important?

With the number of foundations plummeting, foundations themselves as well as academics need to be aware of critical points and discuss the arguments.

Perspectives

In order to see foundations as compatible with modern democratic society, it seems highly important to be sensitive to criticism and objections. To date, foundations have tended either to be unaware of what was being said or to brush it off lightly.
