What is it about?

According to the only article known in the world scientific literature (Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1948, No. 3), the initials were deciphered, the biography was restored, 11 other surviving works of the Soviet mechanic Alexei N. Gerasimov’s were found, who in 20 years earlier. M. Caputo proposed the use of a fractional derivative for problems of viscoelasticity (the Gerasimov-Caputo derivative).

Why is it important?

Of particular interest are miraculously surviving manuscripts of the thesis "The correspondence principle in the theory of linear operators" (supervisor II Privalov) and the Ph.D. thesis under the guidance of V.V. Stepanov’s "Some problems of theory of elasticity, with considering relaxation and after-effect at a linear law".

Perspectives

I would like to acquaint the scientific community with the works of other undeservedly forgotten Russian scientists of the last century- M. Rozovsky, T.Shermergor and V.V. Kolokolchikov.
