What is it about?
Explains the importance of this reference work for Religious Studies
Featured Image
Why is it important?
Research on narrative traditions is often done without any contact with the accumulated knowledge of the leading reference work on oral literature, the Enzyklopädie des Märchens. The article gives examples how Religious Studies can profit from actually using the 15 volume EM, the outcome of more than half a century of work.
Perspectives
The article also points out some first ideas about a future comparative encyclopedia of myth and mythology that might be the logical next step after the completion of the EM.
