What is it about?

The research field is a peripheral economy under a high influence of global actors in financing real estate markets. The article reflects on assymetric power geometry btw. actors and the reproduction of C-P relations. The authors identified the spatial inequalities, the marginal, peripheral and core spaces in housing markets and their characteristics.

Why is it important?

Housing market is one of the most sensitive economic sector, which reflects also the changes of global economic climate, the changing national policies related to the sector, and the corporate strategies inside and outside of a peripheral national economy. If we are able to understand the processes and describe the spatial / social consequences of them, we got a certain mirror about the effects of global crisis.

Perspectives

One of the authors (Zsuzsanna Pósfai) just finished her PhD dissertation about this topic in English. The other author recently published an article about the chaning national level policies on housing market in Hungarian, in the journal Földrajzi Értesítő
