What is it about?
The purpose of this project was to develop a low-cost Opposed-Piston engine, 4-stroke, gasoline by joining two single-cylinder reciprocating internal combustion engines with side valves on the block, removing the heads.

Why is it important?
Opposed-Piston engines have many advantages, which are overwhelmed by the fact that generally they are 2-stroke engines, which have pollutant emission problems. 4-stroke engines have a more cleaner combustion.
Perspectives
I hope this article increases interest in opposed piston engines, since they are very interesting and promising.
