What is it about?

Over the first 3 years of the on-line error reporting system, laboratory errors could be tracked. Taking aside the challenges associated with self-reporting error reporting systems, we were able to establish a foundation against which future laboratory error reporting can be compared.

Why is it important?

On-line reporting of laboratory errors is technically easy and accessible and allows for easy uncomplicated reporting. It is a good foundational process to introduce global geographic error reporting.

Perspectives

This is a good "first-start" foundational report over a broad geography with many and varied laboratories. As much as on-line reporting can have challenges, the information was gathered in real-time and without complex coding.
