What is it about?

Use of the simple FBC marker, RDW (red cell distribution width), to detect anaemia early, and predict the cause of anaemia.

Why is it important?

Pathology testing can be time-consuming and expensive - using simple markers can hasten laboratory diagnosis, saving time and money for patients, health care practitioners and Medicare.

Perspectives

A terrific collaboration between the pathology department, clinicians and academics (including statistics). In the age of mass data, much can be learnt from these databases, to simplify prediction and assist decision making involving patient care and monitoring.
