What is it about?
We checked the influence of some imidasolium ionic liquids and we found that they can increase the activity of chitin deacetylase up to 160%. The influence of [Amim], [Bmim] and [Emim] with different anions ionic liquids is presented.

Why is it important?
Chitin deacetylase can be used for deacetylation of chitosan without changing the molecular weight of the polymer. It can be also used for deacetylation of the surface of chitin particles.
