This is a literature review of the edited book "Word classes: Nature, typology and representations" by Raffaele Simone and Francesca Masini in which each chapter is summarized and the book as a whole is evaluated.

Why is it important?

Like any other literature review, it offers a perspective on and an evaluation of the book which may be helpful to the research community at large.

Perspectives

My co-author and good friend, Yoshikata Shibuya was asked to review the book and suggested that I co-review it with him, which I was happy to do. I learned a lot and gained many insights into word classes from reading and reviewing the book.
