Language interns help in foreign language classrooms as part of Applied Linguistics seminar

What is it about?

Students in a 4th-year Applied Linguistics seminar act as classroom assistants in foreign/second language classrooms, applying both theoretical knowledge and pedagogical techniques under the supervision of their language instructor/supervisor.

Why is it important?

Informed classroom assistants/language interns can provide support in any second/foreign language classroom, especially where funded Teaching Assistants are not possible.

Perspectives

Trudy O'Brien

Both the classroom assistants and their language supervisors have a unique opportunity to apply what they know and gain perspectives and deeper insights into their understanding of L2 pedagogy and opportunities in supporting L2 learners' efforts.
