Adverse analytical finding with trimetazidine after ingesting contaminated melatonin tablets sold in pharmacies… leading to the suspension of the athlete

What is it about?

Trimetazidine (TMZ) is banned by WADA. We report the case of a tennis player who tested positive in a urine test but claimed never to have taken this compound. Contamination by a medication was clearly identified, and no TMZ was detected in her hair. Surprisingly, however, she was suspended for one month.
