What is it about?
Serological diagnosis of hepatitis C virus infection started in 1990. Current assays are suitable for screening and diagnosis but several issues on sensitivity and the lack of a standard procedure for confirmation persist. Testing for HCV antigen, either alone or combined with antibody detection, improves sensitivity and allows a rapid identification of active infections
