What is it about?

Falsely low platelet count on automated hematological analyzers is a common preanalytical event which may be caused by the anticoagulant (EDTA) used in blood collection inducing in vitro platelet aggregation. This study provides a simple, costless and reliable approach to determine the real platelet count by focusing on the aggregation characteristics of a pseudo-thrombocytopenia case.
