Individualized metabolomics: opportunities and challenges

In the current era of precision/ personalized/ individualized medicine, metabolomics data sets from a single individual (n=1) is going to be a corner stone in health care in laboratory medicine practice. Beyond the realms of mass-spectometry for new born screening of those of Mendelian genetic disorders, advances and innovations in metabolomics hold promise for implementation in the near future.
