What is it about?

We describe the advantages of using a new BJTS antiserum to screen for Bence Jones protein (BJP) and as a marker of proteinuria. With a single lane in urinary immunofixation electrophoresis, BJTS antiserum can detect BJP, as well as urinary albumin and α1-microglobulin, which are important markers of glomerular and tubular kidney damage respectively. Our study indicates that BJTS antiserum can improve laboratory cost-efficiency and time-effectiveness; it can also provide physicians with important information not only concerning BJP, but also regarding potential kidney damage.
