What is it about?

Faecal immunochemical tests for haemoglobin (FIT) are widely used in asymptomatic population screening for colorectal (bowel) cancer and also to assist with the assessment of patients presenting with lower abdominal symptoms. There is now great interest in low faecal haemoglobin concentrations (f-Hb) in these two clinical important. We discus current issues and make proposals for interim analytical performance specifications and for reporting low f-Hb data.
