What is it about?

New tests, such as high-sensitivity cardiac troponin diagnostic tests can measure cardiac troponin in the majority of healthy people. Clinical studies have shown small changes in this protein detected with these new tests can be used for early decision making at the emergency department for patients who come to the hospital with chest pain. Our study evaluates the new Beckman Coulter high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assay and documents how well it performs in the normal/low range and what interferences might affect its performance.
