What is it about?

Among subjects with normal glucose tolerance determined by an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), an HbA1c cutoff of 42 mmol/mol (6.0%) helped to reveal subjects with worse beta-cell function. Among subjects with prediabetes determined by an OGTT, an HbA1c cutoff of 48 mmol/mol (6.5%) helped to reveal subjects with worse beta-cell function. Testing for HbA1c in addition to OGTT may provide additional information.
