What is it about?

In this paper, I look at attitudes toward universal basic income (UBI) in European counties. I use the European Social Survey conducted in more than 20 counties.

Why is it important?

Universal Basic Income has received public attention in recent years and has been proposed as a way to provide a safety net in the changing labor market. Many well-known politicians and business figures endorsed UBI, but there has not been a systematic examination as to how the public thinks of it. The focus of the paper is doing exactly that.
