What is it about?

Public libraries are facing a wide variety of challenges: digital dynamics, changes in society as well as the growing importance regarding the library as a place lead to the fundamental need to reshape the library and its mission. The article focuses on the role of the library as a central hub in every community and focuses on best practices like the DOKK1in Aarhus (DK), "The Hive" in Worcester (UK) and the Houston Public Library in Texas (USA).

Perspectives

My personal background as a former deputy head of Bertelsmann Foundation's Public Library Division as well as Librarian Director at ekz.bibliotheksservice GmbH have led me to many library destinations all over the world, including the Nordic countries, the UK and the USA. I wanted to share some of my lessons learned by meeting inspiring library people all over the world.
