What is it about?

History is not a set of facts, but a collection of myths - seen as a tales with meaning. It does not mean that things did not happen, but the descriptions of it are constructs that need to be understood and read as such.

Why is it important?

History shapes present times. It both explains modern day views of what happened and at the same time through history writing authors introduce certain ideas to the readers. In Germany's case the history was a backbone of the creation of German nation and views of it shaped German politics throughout 19th and 20th centuries, including but not limited to the Nazi-times.
