What is it about?
It revisits the arguments for having Enlil and Ninurta as a city gods of Nippur and analyzes the extant sources concerning the whereabouts of the temple of Ninurta. It also reviews the evidence for locating the Ninurta temple in the area of the city.

Why is it important?
It reaffirms the position of the Ninurta temple on the Westmound and suggests that it was this part which was dedicated to Ninurta. The domain of Enlil was the Eastmound.
Perspectives
Although the evidence looks quite straightforward, only renewed excavations can solve the questions of the Ninurta temple once and for all.
