What is it about?

I argue that the Táin Bó Cúailnge is an epic, although not of the Homeric type. As a semiliterate epic, it illustrates the interrelation between written and oral culture. One of the signs that the literarization of the Táin was not complete is the srylistic imbalance which characterizes all its versions, another the fluidity affecting it al all levels of content and form.
