What is it about?

From the public perception of a cooperative, among other things, a population shapes its image on cooperatives. The study results indicate that the perceived cooperative values of cooperative in deed are different from those of stock companies. It is questionable whether this image is in line of the scientific discussions. In this study, the perception of the cooperative values in the Austrian and Swiss population is examined to identify similarities as well as differences. Although the findings do not show a consistent picture in both countries, a common - albeit diffuse - perception core can be identified. The findings suggest that e.g. the different branch mix of cooperatives could be responsible for these differences.*
