What is it about?
The purpose of this research is to qualitatively answer the question of the evolution of the culture of consumption and the associated cultural values within today's cafes (spaces) of Korean society. This study seeks to define the synchronic aspect, with an analysis of consumption behaviors, consumer attitudes and concepts of space in the three stages: the discursive level, the semio-narrative level and the thematic level. This work is oriented towards the consumer through the use of the "generative trajectory of signification" and helps us to construct images on certain aspects of this phenomenon of spatial culture for our analysis. This three-step process of research was applied using the observation method, questionnaire and cultural semiotics to reach and find the fundamental cultural values of this space.

Why is it important?
This study focuses on the spaces of Korean popular cafes, which can be considered not only as functional spaces, but also as cultural spaces. The goal of this research is to answer qualitatively the question of the evolution of the culture of consumption and the cultural values associated with the current Korean "coffee-space". We use a semiotic approach with the consumers.
