What is it about?
Several finite elements models for a new cable-stayed bridge in Romania are presented and analyzed. The stress-strain state in some of the bridge components are calculated together with the displacements of some parts of the bridge considering the staged execution of the structure.

Why is it important?
The consideration of two numerical models for calibrating them is a major aspect. Also, the complex response of the bridge under external applied loads could be obtained. The nonlinear static analyses performed offer a detailed view of the bridge performance and safety.
Perspectives
The paper presents the analyses performed by mean of numerical finite elements models for an important cable-stayed bridge in Romania in order to check the preliminary design. The performed nonlinear staged analyses reveal several aspects that could not be cover in the preliminary design. The obtained results were very useful to correct some aspects not foreseen in the first stage of the design.
