What is it about?

This article seeks deeper explanations of some typical behaviour exhibited by people who are using more than one language as discussed in the literature. I sketch out the different mental systems, especially those that process emotions and evaluations, linguistic structures and meanings and which interact as we process language in production and comprehension using the Modular Cognition Framework developed by Sharwood Smith and Truscott within the MOGUL (Modular Online Growth and Use of Language) project. This framework allows integrated explanations to be developed in different, relevant areas of investigation concerning phenomena such as types of crosslinguistic influence such as code-switching.
