What is it about?
Minority languages receive differential treatment in the European context. Depending on the status that is attributed to a language such as 'national, regional, indigenous or immigrant', institutions allocate different rights and services. In this article, the underlying mindset in the discourse on minority languages are discussed.

The article is important for a critical self-reflection on the contradictory discourses on immigrant integration versus differential treatment of various groups. Policy makers, educational specialists and readers on immigration will derive some relevant lessons.
Perspectives
I believe the discourse on immigration and integration is immensely one-sided. This article examines the semantic load of most common terms used to refer to minority groups.
