What is it about?
In this paper, the origin of the derivational suffix in Orkhon Inscrlptions is discussed. According to most scholars, suffixes in Turkic languages comes from independent words. However, as we look carefully to the derivational suffixes in Orkhon Inscriptions, as well as, in modern Turkic languages, we could clearly see that there are great similarities in the form and function of the derivational suffixes. That’s why, we tend to say that Turkic derivational suffixes were formed with the combination of smaller morphemic elements, mostly one-sound morphems.

The paper gives some new ideas on the origin of Turkic suffixes, and is also useful for the researches of the origin of suffixes in general linguistics.
Perspectives
The researches on one-sound morphemic elements can give new perspectives in morphological structure of Turkic languages, as well as, the other languages of the world.
