Interpreting the text of the Gospel of Matthew, not his mind: An examination of Matthew 28:1

What is it about?

Some scholars have proposed an interpretation of Matthew 28:1 that depends on supposing he was thinking in Hebrew, but writing in Greek. While this is plausible, this article examines the Greek text before us and its reception among ancient Greek readers. In doing so, a connection is made with the title of Psalm 22 that opens up the passages interpretation.
