Why is it important?
Our study results suggest that programs that focus on development of parental limit setting and/or promotion of physical activity may be effective in decreasing screen time among adolescents aged 13–15 years. Furthermore, family based interventions that offer support and education to concerned parents, as well as encouragement to introduce changes in the family environment may be a significant approach towards reducing adolescent excess screen use
Perspectives
I hope this article contributes to the literature on adolescent sedentary behaviors by examining different types of contemporary screen-viewing behaviors in children-parents dyads and their associations with family factors.
