Through it promotional and protective mandate, opportunities exist for the African Commission to develop norms and standards on HIV and human rights in the region.

Why is it important?

Developing norms and standards on HIV and human rights will enable African countries to live up to their obligations to respect, protect and fulfill human rights of those living with or affected by HIV.
