What is it about?

Serum hepcidin levels have been proposed to be the reason for iron overload in the liver in patients with chronic liver disease. However studies comparing serum hepcidin levels in patients with a chronic liver disease have reported conflicting results. We carried out a meta-analysis in which we pooled the data from all these studies to determine the effect of various etiologies of chronic liver disease on serum hepcidin levels.
