Value of monocyte distribution width for predicting severe cholecystitis: a retrospective cohort study

What is it about?

We conducted a retrospective study to investigate the the correlation between monocyte distribution width (MDW) and the severity of acute cholecystitis. The results showed that patients with an MDW ≥21.6 had a higher risk of severe cholecystitis and prolonged hospital stay. Therefore, MDW testing may provide simple information for predicting severe cholecystitis early.
