What is it about?
Different blood collection tubes are used in clinical chemistry laboratories. For the quantitation of multiple protein biomarkers by mass spectrometry it is however not known whether results for serum or plasma tubes are interchangeable. Measuring nine (apolipo)proteins in 6 different blood tubes we found that results are not always the same and special care may be required for matrix specific calibration strategies.
